St. Bartholomew Castle from the sky On the top of the hill, which bears the name of the Colma, rises the Saint Bartholomew’s castle. The origins of the castle are very ancient, and the castle was built on the same area where the Benedictine abbey was situated. Many adjustments led to turn the original main features: during the past century, for example, several modifications were made for agricultural aims. The current structure dates back to the ‘800s, realised in new-gothic style on the top of which stands out the high battlemented tower. The castle was linked to the Saint Bartholomew’s chapel through an underground passage, which was partially obstructed by collapses and soon after almost definitely closed.
